The International Swine Flu Conference addressed best practices to prepare for, respond to, and survive a pandemic. Following introductory remarks, David Osman talked about state and local strategy planning for pandemic influenza. Among the topics he addressed were determining essential services, message development, and building partnerships. Jon Kim Andrus then spoke from the perspective of the Pan American Health Organization. He talked about pandemics from a historical context, risk factors, and future challenges.
