Tom Diaz talked about his book No Boundaries: Transnational Latino Gangs and American Law Enforcement (University of Michigan Press; May 7, 2009). He talked about how he came to write the book and talked about the rise of Latin transnational gangs such as MS-13 and the Latin Kings and describes the U.S. government's efforts to shut them down.
This was the keynote speech for the 18th annual National Gang Violence Conference sponsored by the California Gang Investigators Association and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, on July 21, 2009, at the Anaheim Mariott Hotel.
Tom Diaz is the author of Making a Killing: The Business of Guns in America (New Press, 1999) and was the lead Democratic counsel on counterterrorism issues from 1993 to 1997. He also covered national security affairs for the Washington Times.
