Jamie Merisotis talked about President Obama’s announcement calling for $12 billion in additional funding to the nation’s community colleges, and he responded to telephone calls and electronic correspondence. The community college effort is part of a larger push to retrain unemployed workers and to prepare the U.S. workforce for an increasingly competitive global economy. Mr. Merisotis’s organization, the Lumina Foundation, is an Indianapolis-based, private, independent foundation, whose mission is to expand access to postsecondary education in the United States.
