Paul Butler talked about his book Let's Get Free: A Hip Hop Theory of Justice (New Press; May 12, 2009). In his book he argues that the American criminal justice system is fundamentally broken and that disproportionate punishment for crimes exacerbates society's problems. Topics included how his arrest and trial, even though acquitted, for a crime he had not committed influenced his views of his work as a federal prosecutor. He was interviewed by Professor Geoffrey Stone and responded to questions from members of the audience.
