Evan Osnos spoke about his experiences in China and Chinese culture, as well as the relationship between the U.S. and China. He also talked about his career as a journalist, working on assignment in foreign countries, and the role of the press in Chinese and American society.

Mr. Osnos lived in China since 2005 and has been working for The New Yorker since the previous October. He also spoke about his work in the Middle East and Iraq, where he covered the U.S. invasion and the country’s first post-war elections. He had also covered the aftermath of 9/11 as the paper’s New York correspondent. He joined the Chicago Tribune in 1999 where he was the only Tribune reporter assigned to cover the 2000 Barack Obama congressional race. close
