The Senate Finance Committee held a hearing on reforming the health care system. The hearing was conducted as a roundtable discussion with participants addressing several areas including primary and chronic care issues, Medicare reimbursement of physicians, use of information technology in medicine, as well as waste, fraud and abuse in the health care system. In the course of the discussion the the nomination of Governor Sebelius to be Secretary of health and Human Services was taken up. Sen. Kyl made a statement declaring his opposition to the nomination, and recorded vote was taken. The committee voted 15-8 in favor of sending the nomination to the Senate for confirmation.
