Dambisa Moyo talked about her book Dead Aid: Why Aid Is Not Working and How There Is a Better Way for Africa (Farrar, Straus and Giroux; March 17, 2009). The book argues that Western financial aid to African countries has actually hurt instead of helped. She argues that microfinancing as well as access to capital markets and increased trade with China are better ways to assist the continent. Dambisa Moyo was born and raised in Lusaka, Zambia, and has worked at Goldman Sachs and the World Bank. She has a masters degree from Harvard University's John F. Kennedy School of Government, an MBA in finance from American University, and a PhD from Oxford.
