Juan Williams, journalist, author, and commentator, talked about how much racial politics have changed in the country since the death of Martin Luther King, Jr. Topics included voting rights and the election of President Barack Obama. He responded to questions from members of the audience.



“Democracy Home and Abroad: The Social, Political, and Geopolitical Outlook” was the 5:00 p.m. speech on the second day of the “Tent City Celebration and Voting Rights Symposium: The Pursuit and Power of the Vote.” The symposium was held in the University Center Auditorium on the fiftieth anniversary of the “Tent City” voting rights struggle in Fayette and Haywood Counties, Tennessee.
