Secretary Chu outlined the Department of Energy’s commitment to creating green jobs that would help reduce the nation’s dependence on foreign oil and talked about the importance of a clean energy economy to the future. He used PowerPoint slides in his presentation. He also announced the department’s first loan, for solar power materials, which was made using stimulus funds. Secretary Chu responded to questions from members of the audience.
