In his book he recounts the presidential campaign and election of 1960 from the contest for the Democratic nomination between John F. Kennedy and Lyndon Johnson to the presidential election pitting Kennedy against Richard Nixon. Mr. Pietrusza profiles each politician and examines how the onset of television and the rising influence of presidential primaries impacted the election. Following his remarks he responded to questions from members of the audience.
David Pietrusza is the author of several books, including 1920: The Year of the Six Presidents and Rothstein: The Life, Times and Murder of the Criminal Genius Who Fixed the 1919 World Series.
