The BBC World Service held a town hall discussion of the issues facing President-Elect Barack Obama after his inauguration. Topics included the current global financial crisis, events in Gaza and the wider Middle East, and whether President-Elect Obama would be able to keep his campaign-trail promises to shut down Guantanamo Bay and remove U.S. troops from Iraq. Kojo Nnamdi and Owen Bennett-Jones moderated.

The event “A Global Debate about the Challenges Facing the Obama Administration - Obama’s Washington and the World,” was held before a studio audience in American University Washington College of Law’s Mooers-Morella Ceremonial Courtroom. It was broadcast live by WAMU and on the web by BBC. close
