Walter Oleszek talked about the legislative process and the role of lobbying in policy and law making. Among the issues he addressed were the purpose of lobbyists and lobby groups, ways in which lobbyists represent clients, and the relationship between lobbyist and elected officials. Following his remarks he answered questions from students.
The American University Center for Congressional and Presidential Studies' two-week Public Affairs and Advocacy Institute gives students an intensive exploration of the art and craft of the lobbying profession. Walter Oleszek is a senior specialist in American national government at the Congressional Research Service. He serves as an adjunct professor of political science at American University and as a research fellow at the Center for Congressional and Presidential Studies.
