From Colony to Superpower
George Herring is an emeritus history professor at the University of Kentucky. He is the author of numerous books, including America’s Longest War: The United States and Vietnam, 1950-1975. Mr. Herring is a former president of the Society for Historians of American Foreign Relations and former editor of Diplomatic History.

George Herring talked about From Colony to Superpower: U.S. Foreign Relations Since 1776. In the book he explores America’s expansion from thirteen colonies to fifty states and the global ascendancy of the country and the foreign policy decisions. He deems these changes as both good and bad. Following his remarks he responded to questions from the audience.
