Edwin Burrows read passages from and talked about his book Forgotten Patriots: The Untold Story of American Prisoners During the Revolutionary War (Basic Books; November 10, 2008), which recounts the story of the more than 30,000 Americans who were prisoners of war during the American Revolution. According to Mr. Burrows, 6,800 American men died in the field of battle and close to 18,000 died in prisons. The majority of these men were held by the British at their primary military base in New York City. Professor Burrows responded to audience members' questions.

Edwin Burrows is the co-author of Gotham: A History of New York City to 1898, which was the recipient of the Pulitzer Prize for History in 1999.
