Participants in a conference on the upcoming presidential transition spoke about past administration efforts during transition periods, promises made by both 2008 presidential candidates to “change the way Washington works,” and improving working relations between the president and Congress. Panelists focused on recommendations for the 2009 transition in areas of homeland security, national security and defense policy, as well as the economy.

“Lessons Learned From the White House Transition Project” was the second panel of the conference titled “Presidential Transitions: From Campaigning to Governing.”
