Republican Senator Norm Coleman, Independence Party candidate former Senator Dean Barkley, and DFL candidate Al Franken participated in a televised debate in their campaign for the U.S. Senate. Candidates were seated at a table and answered questions posed by reporters. This was the second of five scheduled debates among candidates for the U.S. Senate in Minnesota.
