David Eisner talked about the current role of national service in the U.S. The week’s cover story of Time Magazine was on national service and presidential candidates Senators McCain and Obama also discussed the issue at a forum on Thursday evening, September 11, 2008. Mr. Eisner talked about the Bush administration’s record on community service as well as the opportunities and challenges that will face the next administration in terms of recruiting and fostering volunteers. He responded to telephone calls and electronic mail.
