It is a project of the National Endowment for the Humanities program "We the People," a program started by Mr. Cole to promote the teaching of culture and history in schools.
Bruce Cole is the 8th Chairman of the National Endowment for the Humanities. He is an art historian, previously teaching at Indiana University in Bloomington, where he was Distinguished Professor of Art History and Professor of Comparative Literature. He has written 14 books.
