Participants in the afternoon session of the Annual Black Republican Forum, co-sponsored by the National Black Republican Association and the American Forum Series at the Women's National Republican Club, spoke about various issues of concern to minority communities.
In the first panel Princella Smith, Niger West, and Allen West spoke on "Illegal Immigration and Black America." Ms. Smith talked about the English language and immigration and the effects of illegal immigrants on the economy, and Mr. West talked about assimilation. Allen West focused on the the relationship between illegal immigration and national security.
The discussion topic in the second panel was "When Political Correctness Leads To Campaign Paralysis" with Deborah Honeycutt, Jennifer Carroll, and Timothy Johnson. Dr. Johnson called on the Republican Party to overcome political correctness. Timothy Johnson talked about local issues. Jennifer Carroll stated that those who are easily offended should "toughen up." Panel members responded to questions from the audience.
Reverend Jesse Lee Peterson, Star Parker, and Deneen Borelli talked about "The Black Church and State: Traditional Black Churches versus Liberation Theology and Their Roles In 2008." Mychal Massie and David Webb made closing remarks.
