Jane Mayer talked about her book The Dark Side: The Inside Story of How the War on Terror Turned into a War on American Ideals, published by Doubleday. In her book she uses historic American ideals of justice as a point of departure for examining the Bush administration’s tolerance of torturing detainees in the war on terrorism. She recounts her investigation into the campaign from the Office of the Vice President to legalize torture and expand the president’s powers as commander-in-chief. Dana Priest was the guest interviewer.
