An afternoon session of the 30th National Conservative Student Conference included a panel discussion on “Great Books to Read in College” with publishers Jed Donahue and Marji Ross and Wynton Hall, author of The Right Words: Great Republican Speeches that Shaped History, published by Wiley. Readings that panelists recommended included Barry Goldwater’s The Conscience of a Conservative, The Fountainhead by Ayn Rand, the Constitution and Declaration of Independence, Robert Caro’s Path to Power, Prince of Darkness by Robert Novak, and business books.
