A hearing was held on the expanding role of the military in foreign policy. The first panel of witnesses consisted of state and defense department officials. 
The second panel comprised experts, practitioners, and representatives from non-governmental organizations (NGOs). Questions and testimony focused on why the military role is increasing, interagency coordination, and the foreign policy implications of the military’s expanding role.
