The House passed H.R. 3291, to make appropriations for the government of the District of Columbia. The House passed S. 296, to amend the Immigrations and Nationality Act to provide for special immigrant status for certain aliens who have served honorably (or are enlisted to serve) in the armed forces of the United States for at least twelve years. The House passed S. 868, to improve the educational assistance benefits for members of the reserve components of the armed forces who served on active duty during the Persian Gulf war, and to improve and clarify the eligibility of certain veterans for employment and training assistance.
