Bruce Herschensohn talked about his novel Above Empyrean (Beaufort Books), which is about what it would be like to live in the U.S. if the country were taken over by Islamic terrorists. In his book Mr. Herschensohn speculates that terrorists would kill and torture citizens and kidnap the President. In his remarks, Mr. Herschensohn compared the war in Iraq to World War II. He said that many Americans, including Senator Obama, don’t understand that the Iraqi war is a global war against Islamist fundamentalism. Following his talk, he answered audience members' questions.

Bruce Herschensohn is the author of Taiwan: The Threatened Democracy and Lost Trumpets: A Conservative Map to America’s Destiny. He was Deputy Special Assistant to President Nixon, and in 1992 he was the Republican nominee for the United States Senate in California, losing to Barbara Boxer. He has taught American foreign policy at the University of Maryland, Whittier College, and Pepperdine University. He is a former fellow at Harvard University and the Claremont Institute in California.
