Bruce Bartlett talked about his book Wrong on Race: The Democratic Party’s Buried Past, published by Palgrave Macmillan. In his book he argues that the Democratic Party had a racist past and he says there is an unfair perception of America’s two national parties. He contends that Democratic presidents and congressmen of the past supported racial segregation and the “Jim Crow” laws that dominated the Confederate states. The guest interviewer was Clarence Page, syndicated columnist at the Chicago Tribune.

Bruce Bartlett served as a domestic policy adviser to President Reagan and a Treasury official under President George H.W. Bush. He has written in several publications including the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and National Review.
