Edward Sproat delivered opening remarks at the forum on “Yucca Mountain and the Nuclear Renaissance: Assessing the Safety and Viability of a Vital National Asset.” Then a panel of experts discussed the possibility of expanding the use of nuclear energy. Topics included the safety of geologic storage, how recycling spent nuclear fuel could affect Yucca Mountain’s long-term viability, and the politics of nuclear power. After their presentations the panelists responded to audience members' questions. close
