Participants talked about the method of selecting presidential nominees. They talked about the progression of the primary systems from the initial structure to the status quo. They spoke of the challenges facing reform of the system, including issues of money and the strategic advantages of a state having an early primary. The participants then answered questions from the audience. 


“The Presidential Nominating Process: Is the System Broken?” was a bown bag lunch talk at the Shorenstein Center, co-sponsored by the Institute of Politics.

Tom Fiedler recently retired as the editor of the Miami Herald. James Roosevelt is president and CEO of Tufts Health Plan.
