Dee Dee Myers talked about her book Why Women Should Rule The World, published by Harper. In her book Ms. Myers argues that the increased number of women in leadership positions creates a stronger society. She profiles women who have garnered success in their respective fields from government to corporate boardrooms. Ms. Myers, former White House press secretary during the Clinton administration and the first woman to hold the position, talked about her political career and the challenges she faced as a woman in the West Wing. The guest interviewer was White House Press Secretary Dana Perino.
Dee Dee Myers was the White House press secretary from January 1993 to December 1994 and was the first woman to hold the position. Following her tenure she was a consultant to the NBC drama, “The West Wing” and co-host of the CNBC program, “Equal Time.” Ms. Myers is currently a contributing editor to Vanity Fair magazine and political commentator for NBC and MSNBC.
Dana Perino, the current White House press secretary, has held the position since September 2007. Prior to her current position Ms. Perino was deputy assistant to the president and deputy press secretary. She has also been spokesperson for the Department of Justice and director of communications for the White House Council on Environmental Quality.
