John Lawrence delivered an address at the annual meeting on "Perspectives on One Historian's Thirty Years with the Congress".
He spoke about how his training as a historian provided him with a unique perspective that benefited him in his years of working in various positions for the House of Representatives. He briefly outlined the past 35 years of House history. He then gave a short description of the changes in the House since Nancy Pelosi became Speaker of the House. He ended by calling for greater scholarship in the field of congressional history. Afterwards he answered questions from members of the audience.
