Steven Malanga, Heather Mac Donald, and Victor Davis Hanson talked about their book The Immigration Solution: A Better Plan Than Today's, published by Ivan R.Dee. In the book each author explores an aspect of the immigration debate, including the social, economic, and political results of current immigration policies. Together, the authors argue for an immigration policy similar to those of other advanced nations: one that admits skilled and educated people based on what they can do for the country, not what the country can do for them. They talked about topics including the effects of illegal immigration on life such as in Mr. Hanson's small California town, the effects of immigration enforcement, the changing economics of immigration and the myths of immigration, including the first great immigration from about 1880 to 1925 as compared to as the second great immigration that began in the mid-1960s. They responded to questions from members of the audience.
