State Opening of Parliament

On the first day of the new Parliamentary session, the Queen travels from Buckingham Palace to Parliament to deliver the Queen’s speech from the throne in the House of Lords. The speech is drawn up by the government, and outlines its priorities for the coming year. Members of the House of Commons and Lords are present.
The official pomp and circumstance of the ceremonial occasion was accompanied by BBC commentators and the speech was discussed by studio guests.
