David Friedman talked about his book The Immortalists: Charles Lindbergh, Dr. Alexis Carrel, and Their Daring Quest to Live Forever, published by Ecco. In his book he recounts the unlikely pairing of Charles Lindbergh and Dr. Alexis Carrel as they embarked on a plan to challenge mortality. Dr. Carrel, winner of the Nobel Prize in 1912 for his work on organ transplants, was interested in enabling human organs to live longer through mechanical assistance.
