The House Judiciary Committee held a hearing titled "Warrantless Surveillance and the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act: The Role of Checks and Balances in Protecting Americans' Privacy Rights" to consider changes to the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA). Witnesses testified about the operation of domestic surveillance programs, requests made by the committee for further information on the programs, civil liberties issues and concerns, as well as potential extension of authorization of the programs.
