Alastair Campbell talked about his book The Blair Years: The Alastair Campbell Diaries, published by Knopf. Mr. Campbell served as former Prime Minister Tony Blair’s press secretary and director of communications and strategy from 1994 to 2003. He talked about writing daily in his diary and using selections from it in his book. Topics included British involvement in Iraq and Blair’s relationship with Presidents Clinton and G.W. Bush. The guest interviewer was Gerald Seib.

Prior to serving with Tony Blair, Alastair Campbell was the political editor of London’s Daily Mirror. He is currently chairman of fundraising for Leukaemia Research Fund.

Gerald Seib began working for the Wall Street Journal in 1978. He was part of the Journal team that won the 2001 Pulitzer Prize for Breaking News Reporting. Mr. Seib also writes the paper’s “Capitol Journal” column. close
