Professor Prothero was interviewed about his book, Religious Literacy: What Every American Needs to Know--And Doesn’t, published by HarperSanFrancisco. He said that while the United States is a deeply religious nation, few Americans understand the basics of Christianity and other major world religions. He advocated teaching about the major religions in public schools, which would help Americans better address domestic and foreign challenges facing the country. After his presentation he responded to audience members' questions.
