The House Foreign Affairs Committee held a hearing on genocide in Sudan’s Darfur region, and the U.S. response to the violence in the region. Among the topics they addressed were the deployment of United Nations peacekeeping forces in the region, past and present resistance by the Sudanese government to international agreements on ending ethnic and sectarian violence, and the impact of the genocide on the African continent. Witnesses also talked about humanitarian issues and foreign aid.
