Brian Doherty was interviewed by Doug Bandow about his book, Radicals for Capitalism: The Freewheeling History of the Modern American Libertarian Movement, published by PublicAffairs. Topics included Doherty’s background, the roots of libertarianism, free markets, the dangers of economic centralization, federal spending and taxes, and the development of the Cato Institute.

Brian Doherty is a senior editor at Reason magazine. His articles, essays, and reviews have appeared in magazines, newspapers, and books, including the Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, Mother Jones, and The Weekly Standard. He is also the author of This Is Burning Man: The Rise of a New American Underground.

Doug Bandow is vice president of policy for Citizen Outreach, a “limited-government public policy organization.” He also is the Bastiat Scholar in Free Enterprise at the Competitive Enterprise Institute and the Cobden Fellow in International Economics at the Institute for Policy Innovation. He was formerly a senior fellow at the Cato Institute. Before that he served as a special assistant to President Ronald Reagan and as a senior policy analyst in the 1980 Reagan presidential campaign.
