During the final briefing in the White House Brady Briefing Room, Mr. Snow briefed reporters and answered questions on a number of issues including the status of Cuban leader Fidel Castro and U.S. policy toward Cuba, the status of the conflict between Israel and Hezbollah forces in Lebanon, and United Nations efforts to broker a cease-fire agreement in the Middle East.
Following the formal briefing President Bush made an unexpected appearance to thank former press secretaries and reporters prior to renovations to room. He made a few light-hearted remarks about the conditions in the current room, relations with the press corps, and answered brief questions about the renovations. Former press secretaries in attendance were James Brady, Ron Nessen, Marlin Fitzwater, Dee Dee Myers, and Joe Lockhart.
