Assistant Secretary of State for Consular Affairs Maura Harty and Brigadier General Michael Barbero, deputy director for Regional Operations of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, spoke to the press about the U.S. efforts to assist Americans who wish to leave Lebanon. They talked about the pace of evacuation operations, resources assigned to the region, and the logistics of moving American citizens in Lebanon to safety. Following their remarks they answered questions from reporters.
