Chalmers Johnson was interviewed about topical issues and his book, The Sorrows of Empire: Militarism, Secrecy, and the End of the Republic, published by Metropolitan Books. Other topics included the increasing power of the Executive Branch, loss of liberty, the Vietnam War, the Cold War, the September 11 attacks, militarism and the overextension of the U.S. 'empire.' He taught Chinese and Japanese politics at the University of California at Berkeley for 26 years. Professor Johnson also wrote, Blowback: The Costs and Consequences of American Empire, published by Holt; and Revolutionary Change, published by Stanford. He has another book coming out later this year, Nemesis: The Last Days of the American Republic.
