Assistant Secretary Shannon, President Vazquez, Secretary Rice and others addressed the 36th annual conference of the Council of the Americas on topics of creating jobs and building hope for hemispheric growth. Other topics included expanding democracy, social responsibility, and changing political institutions. Secretary Rice talked about her recent trip to Brazil, Colombia, Chile, and El Salvador. Assistant Secretary Shannon responded to questions from audience members.
