Professor Bruinius talked about his book, Better for All the World: The Secret History of Forced Sterilization and America's Quest for Racial Purity, published by Knopf. He described the history of the eugenics movement in America and its influence on forced sterilization policies of the early 20th century. He profiled two of the over 65,000 victims of these policies. After his presentation he answered audience members' questions.
