Joanne Oppenheim talked about her book for young adults, Dear Miss Breed: True Stories of the Japanese American Incarceration During World War II and a Librarian Who Made a Difference, published by Scholastic Nonfiction. The book incorporates images and letters from the Japanese American National Museum collection to chronicle the story of Clara Breed, children's librarian at the San Diego Public Library, who sent care packages and corresponded with San Diego children sent to internment camps during World War II. During the presentation, many of the original letter writers stood up to share their experiences with the audience and answer questions.
