David Vise was interviewed about his book The Google Story: Inside the Hottest Business, Media, and Technology Success of Our Time, published by Delacorte Press. Mr. Vise was interviewed by Rep. Lamar Smith, chairman of the House Judiciary Subcommittee on Courts, the Internet, and Intellectual Property.

Mr. Vise described the history of the Google company which started when two Stanford University Ph.D. students created an Internet search engine in the mid-1990s. Vise said that with a combination of new technology and unconventional business practices the company continues to try to organize all information on the World Wide Web without charge to the consumer. He also talked about the enormous growth of the company, its innovative way of paying for itself through ads, its work environment, its controversial proposal to scan in entire libraries, and its recent public stock offering.
