Following Attorney General Gonzales' defense of domestic surveillance programs by the Bush administration in efforts to combat terrorism, legal scholars talked to students about the remarks and legal issues surrounding the surveillance programs. Among the topics they addressed were legal requirements to seek permission from federal courts for such actions, the role of commander-in-chief and executive powers in times of war, and potential abuses of the intelligence. Following their remarks they answered questions from the audience.
