James Yee was interviewed about his book For God and Country: Faith and Patriotism Under Fire, published by PublicAffairs. In the book, James Yee described his experience as a U.S. Army Muslim Chaplain at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. The military base held almost 700 captured enemy combatants detained during the Bush administration’s war on terrorism. He explained the events that led to his arrest and imprisonment on charges that he was a national security risk. Rowan Scarbourgh, the Washington Times defense reporter who broke the story in the newspaper on September 20, 2003, interviewed Chaplain Yee. close
