The Select Bipartisan Committee to Investigate the Preparation for and Response to Hurricane Katrina held a hearing titled “Hurricane Katrina: Voices from Inside the Storm.” During the second panel, urban planners testified about the impact of the hurricanes along the Gulf Coast. Witnesses discussed the challenges facing hurricane evacuees before, during, and after the storms. They criticized the response effort and said relief efforts should be a top priority of Congress.
