Michael Moore was honored at the First Annual Paul Wellstone Memorial Award Dinner of The Progressive Caucus of the Genesee County Democratic Party held at Mott Community College. Mr. Moore, who was originally from Flint, Michigan, gave an acceptance speech in which he criticized the war in Iraq. Among the topics he discussed were American troop withdrawal from Iraq, polls showing President Bush’s declining popularity, Delphi Corporation filing bankruptcy, and criticism of celebrities. Mr. Moore also had a short dialogue with his sign language interpreter.

Video footage was shown of his March 2003 Academy Award acceptance speech for his documentary Bowling for Columbine. Mr. Kildee introduced both the video and Mr. Moore. close
