Simon Winchester talked about his book A Crack in the Edge of the World: America and the Great California Earthquake of 1906, published by HarperCollins. The book is an examination of the San Francisco earthquake of 1906 and an analysis of the lasting effect it had on California and continental America well into the twentieth century. Mr. Winchester also explored the nature of earthquakes and what makes them such a destructive force. Following his presentation, he responded to questions and comments from members of the audience.
