A panel titled “What We Saw: Americans in Iraq” was held at the Brattle Theatre in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Panelists talked about their experiences in Iraq and discussed what still needs to be done in that country. Following their discussion, they responded to questions and comments from members of the audience. Mr. Goldfarb moderated the discussion.
Anthony Shadid is the author of Night Draws Near. His coverage of the war in Iraq for the Washington Post earned him the 2004 Pulitzer Prize for International Reporting. Former sergeant Kayla Williams, author of Love My Rifle More Than You, served in Iraq as a translator with the 101st Airborne Division. Steve Mumford is the author and illustrator of Baghdad Journal. His paintings describing daily life in occupied Iraq were drawn from four different visits to the country. Michael Goldfarb, author of Ahmad’s War, Ahmad’s Peace, covered the war and its aftermath for WBUR in Boston.
